In case this is not clear from the text, this was sent to the tutor by one of their students, who then forwarded this to me.

Subject: Student Feedback
Dear Colleagues,
The message below was forwarded to me today by one of the specialist learning support tutors that I have worked with over the years. This affectionate message is woven out of the discreet elements that we can recognises as constituting a real process of education.
This is not in any way a party political point: Vince Cable recently made an intelligent and nuanced opening statement about the future of higher education, including questioning the privileging of the standard package of a 3 year full-time degree. Our experience on the ground with a-typical learners, of whom there are far more than is generally pretended, leaves us well-placed to contribute to the debate that his statement invited.
The more we can contour educational pathways in a way that corresponds to how education unfolds in practice, the better. In this way, precious resources can continue to find their way to continue to foster resilient intelligence.
Kind regards,
PG

Hi XXXX
How are you well i hope?
I'm emailing to let you know that finally after all these years i have done it i'm officially a newly qualified teacher in xxx. Its been a very long journey longer than i had originally planned but i have finally got there after 3 years of support teaching and 2 years of teaching unqualified and studying at the same time with three skills tests that proved to be harder than i thought i have reached the finish line for now anyway!
I remember when i was at uni and you suggested me being a teacher i laughed and thought about it as something that would only ever stay as a thought and nothing else, how funny that it actually became true. If it wasn't for you ever suggesting it i don't think i would have ever had the confidence to pursue it in my later career. I have had a lot of people help me through the years to get to where I am today but you are by far one that i will never forget and always be grateful to because without you i would have never had those very important foundations that set me up for what was to come and i only hope that in my career within education i can pass that onto one of my students... xxx
Lots of love
XXXX
