All I can say is that if members of the list are interested in this problem,
they should look at
http://amberhawk.typepad.com/amberhawk/2010/03/sex-offender-disclosure-proce
dure-ignores-data-protection-risk-assessment.html as the Government are
rolling out a disclosure scheme without having any regard to the data
protection consequences of someone getting inadvertently caught up in the
scheme.
Those who are responsible for administering the scheme need to change the
procedures that were adopted during the pilot - otherwise, I can see
disclosure going horribly wrong.

Subject: [data-protection] Offender locator in the uk?
Dear all,
I was just reading the latest audit commission discussion paper (the truth
is out there) and I came across an interesting point on page 18.
In the us two of the most popular iphone apps are:
Offender locator: which gives you photographs and addresses of
convicted sex offenders in their area (based on national sex offenders
register)
Date check: this allows you to find out more about partner or
blind date. Such as , criminal history, type of house you live in, and with
whom they share their home
How soon before these come to the uk? What will be the market for "legends"
the cover identities that bear up to scrutiny but are fictitious or based on
someone else?
