Dominic,
We also provide support for students with pre-16 SpLD reports plus students newly identified as having possible SpLD at entry via in house screening / assessments. The support is temporary in that we'd then arrange an ed psych appointment (fully funded at the moment, but given increasingly tight post 16 purse strings...) to formally confirm a SpLD then encourage an application for DSA. We're probably not the only support service to sometimes then support students with weekly 1:1 sessions with specialist dyslexia tutors for many months before any progress from Student Loans Company.
Dominic since you're so local if you'd ever like to grab a coffee to explore issues like this give me a shout.

Hello Dominic,
My responses in bold.

Hi,
We're currently reviewing our policy on the evidence we accept and wondered
if anyone would answer the following question:
1. Do you provide support for students with pre-16 SpLD reports (ie. reports
that would not be accepted for DSA)?
If so, would this be temporary support until a full report is provided.
We'd support them but if they planned to claim DSA they'd need to get a fresh one carried out anyway. So it would inevitably temporary until their new one was produced.
2. If you require an up to date Ed Psych, does your institution (via ALF) fund
the full assessments, or do students make a contribution?
We currently pay for the full free from either ALF or own budget (once ALF has been exhausted or for international students).
We currently would accept an "old" report for support (e.g. exam support,
library support, one to one study skills, etc) but would encourage students
have a new report, so they could apply for DSA - and currently students
would fund 40% of the new assessment.
Thanks,
