I have also received one of these this morning. The assessment centre
say they are acting on what they believe to be SLC policy, until they
are notified otherwise.

Subject: Re: 10 hour review
Dear all
In relation to this particular student we received an approval of
recommendations following an assessment which gave a specialist study
skills entitlement of 10 hours - "subject to review" - so although
there
are now a whole host of people saying its not true and never was and
that it shouldn't have been said - depending on which meeting or
conference was attended - the evidence I have on a piece of paper from
SLC is that it has been implemented, or at least it has in relation to
this student, and so to continue supporting him effectievly I have no
alternative but to submit a review with a further recommendation for
support.
Kind regards

Subject: Re: 10 hour review
Dear all,
Is this currently an actual requirement - have SLC required this to
happen and if so where is this documented?
Sorry if I have missed something obvious - but I did place a query
earlier about the formal status and notification of the requirements
of
the SLC - where is the formal documentation and requirement for the
changes. Currently the only item I have been pointed to is an FAQ
webpage.
We appear to be working in the dark. I am finding it very hard to
update
business plans and formal procedural manuals with no concrete point of
reference.

As it is as you say a student funded through SLC (Student Finance
Direct
in Darlington), suggest send the review to SFD along with a
recommendation / request for additional sessions. With the
recommendation based on and supported by the evidence that you are
presenting in the review. Similar to as one would for a DSA Needs
assessment. Perhaps best not to go too overboard with the
recommendation
for additional sessions, as further review at a later date,
appropriate
to the case, perhaps ought to be carried out.

we should send it or who we should tell???
