The Challenge of Disability Equality Today

This year's annual higher education conference is aimed at all staff who plan and deliver services for disabled students - including senior managers, heads of student support services, disability officers and departmental disability contacts.
The theme is The Challenge of Disability Equality Today and topics covered include; the impact of mental health on higher education institutions, the Single Equality Bill and Single Equality Schemes, the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR), the Disability Discrimination Act and general qualifications.
Skill is delighted to announce that speakers will include Sophie Corlett, Policy Director at MIND, Nicky Stanley, Professor of Social Work at the University of Central Lancashire and Sian Davies from UNISON. Workshops and briefings will cover a diverse range of topics, including, single equality impact assessments, student finance, competency standards, the business case for disability equality in light of the Leitch Review of Skills and responding to and preventing student suicide.
