Hi Fiona
Thanks for that. Yes these are some of the problems that I am thinking about at the moment. We also have mentors but their role is slightly different - they provide a learning support type of role, e.g. organisational skills, social skills etc. I'm thinking about someone to help students in the first few weeks of term - showing them around & helping them get used to the routine etc.
Thanks again
Rebecca

We haven't provided this scheme, we provide trained mentors instead. The problems we envisage with buddies is how they would deal with some of the complex issues that some of our qualified and experienced support workers have struggled to deal with. It has even been suggested in the past that fellow student act as buddies, I personally don't think this is fair given some of the circumstances we have had to deal with

Good afternoon all
Do any Disability teams run a buddy scheme for students? I am looking into starting one up for students with Aspergers / ASD and would be interested to know if anyone has done similar or perhaps one for all disabled students to access.
Thanks
Rebecca
