Does this help?
1) I buy shares in a small company noone has heard of, say at 10p per
share
2) I send millions of e-mails telling the recipients "insider"
information about a highly promising, but previously unheard of, company
3) They start buying the shares, increasing the price to, say 11p per
share
4) I sell my shares for more than I paid for them
Sadly it seems there are enough people out there who will respond to
unsolicited stock tips to make this profitable: I've seen estimates of
the profit ranging from 6% to 60% :-(
