I once saw it in The Bill a few years ago , the bad news was the
Sergeant was saying "don't worry it's only The Data Protection Act" and
everyone laughed. Talk about realistic or what???

Subject: [data-protection] DPA mentioned in TV programme
It seems awareness of the Act is growing.
Last night I watched Shameless on Channel 4 and was surprised to hear the
Data Protection Act mentioned. A debt collector was trying to recover goods
and said that he knew the father lived at the house because his name was on
the rent book. A policeman who happened to be in the house (this is the
shortened version of the story!) asked how he knew that as finding out the
information would be an offence under the DPA.
Which programme will it turn up in next?
