A starting point might be:-
Her Majesty's Stationery Office The Health Service (Control of Patient
Information) Regulations 2002
http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2002/20021438.htm
There are also a growing number of frameworks now covering the various
areas, so you might find a Health Code of Practice in a related or
experimental research area which would be of assistance. Of course if the
material is solely research, you could begin from a research base, and
probably find a different set of answers due to the different
considerations. Whichever you go with, there should be a Code of Ethics
involvement somewhere.
