Hello all,
I've just began a new role in Metropolitan Housing Group (formerly in
a
Police Force Data Protection Office) as their Information Manager.
While it is clear that the FOI Act does not apply to Housing
Associations at present, our organisation is considering to increase
public trust by allowing the general right of access, formulate a
publication scheme, and adopt the good information management
principles
laid out in the DCA's s46 code of practice.
As Housing Groups carry out a public function, we have decided that it
may be prudent to 'get ahead of the game' to work more compatably with
the public sector and prepare for the eventuality that the Secretary
of
State may designate such bodies as 'public authorities' in the future.
My question is this:
Does anyone else know of any other similar organisation to take this
on, or any Housing Association Data Protection / Freedom of
Information
practitioner groups with whom I could share good practice and exchange
ideas?
Thanks for your time
