Dear colleagues in HE,
This is always an issue that I am unsure of, I wonder if anyone can help..
Does an HEI have a duty of confidence to a student, in relation to their
attendance record, when they are being paid for by their employer? Does the
employer have a right to know their employee's (the student's) attendance
record?
I can see arguments on either side. The employer would argue that the
student is studying in the employer's time (paid for by them). The student
would probably argue that the employer has no rights in relation to their
attendance record, provided they are completing assignments and passing
exams.
What do others think?
Thanks,
Matt
