Hi All
We have a Mitigating Circumstances Board which approves
examinations adjustments for students with disabilities. At our April
meeting we will be looking at reviewing the modular system to try
and anticipate additional needs, I am trying to persuade academic
staff to insert generic alternatives to standard assessments as they
introduce new modules or revalidate existing ones, but there is some
resistance to this. We already have a caveat inserted in our regs so
that we can mediate on behalf of individuals but its often a very
drawn out process which doens't always achieve what is needed
because of the number of people who can get involved. I know there
is a wealth of guidance out there but as anyone had any success as
yet with this approach and if so what were the pitfalls - (apart from
lack of interest)?
Thoughts welcomed (off list)
Thanks
