Hi all,
My name is Andrew Hodgson and I am a visually impaired student
studying for a single honours in Information Technology.
For my independent study, I am producing a prototype program written
in Visual Basic which will guide people who are new to computers and
using screen readers/screen magnifiers through the steps of using the
Windows GUI interface. Specifically, my client wants to change from
teaching visually impaired people specific applications first, to
teaching them Windows first, then the specific application, to
hopefully give them a better understanding of how the GUI interface
works for when they come to learn new applications.
The prototype of the program has been completed, and what I need
people to do now is to have a look at the program using screen
reader/magnifier technology, and to fill in a small questionnaire
regarding the process. The procedure will be anonymous, but I am
trying to find a wide spread of people with differing experiences of
computer skills under the Windows operating system.
The only requirement for testing the prototype is that the tester has
a screen reader/screen magnifier running alongside the program in
order to work out whether they benefit from the program.
If you are interested, please email <[log in to unmask]>, and I
will make arrangements to send you both the questionnaire in a format
of your choice and the program prototype itself.
Thanks very much,
Andrew.
