I would be grateful if other Universities could share their Screening
procedures for Dyslexia as we are looking to resolve this issue.
We currently offer the DAST (Dyslexic Adult Screening Test) as a
screening mechanism. This has been running effectively for about 3
years now. However, on the basis of specialist advice we do not
offer the screening to students whose first language is not english
(even if they are fluent speakers) as the test is not sophisticated to
identify whether the students problems are language or literacy
based. We can offer it to students who have been raised bilingually.
What do other Universities do? Is there an appropriate screening
mechanism out there for students in this position?
Thanks
Katy
