If a student has interrupted her course on medical grounds then the year
in question is ignored for time limit purposes as if it never took
place. This is of course provided she was given such interruption.

Subject: Degree completion rules
Dear All,
Can you help?
A student is in the last year under the eight year completion rule that
she has to finish her degree. Does suspension of registration mitigate
against the time limit? Does the same time limit apply even if
suspension is due to ill health? The student wants to continue and
complete her degree over nine or ten years is this possible?
