Strip shredding is where the shredder cuts the paper into strips
a few millimetres wide. It is possible (with considerable
patience and effort) to reconstitute the document by putting all
the strips side by side.
Crosscutting in effect cuts across the strips creating tiny
fragments of the document. In theory (but hardly in practice) it
would be possible to do the massive jigsaw puzzle of putting all
the tiny fragments back together to remake the document but
clearly this would be exceedingly difficult and time consuming -
this method is therefore more secure.
Burning the shredded items clearly makes the process even more
secure.
