Hi,
at the moment we have one registered blind undergraduate student who uses
braille.
We have a braille embosser attached to a PC on campus.
Our law department have used this braille embosser to braille class exam
papers internal to the institution as an emergency measure. The original
plan had been to braille the class exam papers externally, but the
department felt that class exam regulations could be observed appropriately
brailling them inhouse.
So far there have been no requests to braille exam papers set by
an external body, but as things stand at the moment, we would not offer this
facility to external bodies.
A local RNIB centre offers a brailling facility which includes confidential
brailling of exam papers which has been used as far as I know by further
education colleges in the city. Their charges for
brailling are not expensive (although they had been considering reviewing
what they charge).

Subject: brailling exam papers
At Sheffield University we have the facilities to braille university
examination papers but not those set by an external body. I
would be grateful if anyone could advise me on how this support is
arranged at other universities.
Many thanks
