Interesting points about applying early for DSA.- copied below for
convenience.
" How soon can I have the needs assessment done? It is planned that from
this academic year, 2002/03, once you have established your eligibility
i.e. you have received an eligibility notification from your LEA, and you
have proven that you are disabled, or have a specific learning
difficulty, then the LEA can arrange for a needs assessment to be carried
out well before the start of term, and even before you have a confirmed
place at an institution. Ask your LEA for more information. You may then
need a top-up assessment when you start your course to make sure that the
particular needs you have on your course are met. Students already on a
course can apply at any time."
