I'm not too keen on attachments either - essentially because they
take extra time to download and may not be of interest anyway. I'd
rather see stuff posted to a webpage - with a URL included in the
email. That way folks have the choice of whether to access it or
not. However, I realise that if you don't have ready access to FTP
facilities, this can be an inconvenient way to communicate.
Having said that, encouraging restrictions as a result of virus
activity is, in my view, giving in to the sad plonkers who devise and
distribute such viruses. Identifying the Sir Cam worm (and most
other viruses) is pretty easy anyway (says he, with fingers tightly
crossed). The bottom line is:
If you don't know what's in the attachment, delete it. If it's
important (and legitimate), it can always be sent again.
