Hi,
In the next day or two I will be asking our staff to opt-out from an in
preparation external email directory. Taking the Jisc guidance + suggestions
received on this very list earlier, if we give adequate warning we can
include staff who do not object. The warning will be in 2 emails + a third
letter in writting. The cycle would take about a month.
At the moment if staff I assume the opt-out relates to the address. I remove
the email address but I leave the name in so if someone searches will get the
following. eg:
Charles Christacopoulos (Mr), Department xyz, Address withheld.
Comments please:
To what extent can I leave the name in ?
No questions asked about removing the address ?
I could remove the name on the basis of a separate request but then I have to
write more programs :-(
Should I differentiate between name and email address or treat them as one
item for opt-in opt-out purposes?
Any other HEIs on the list. How do you handle it?
Ta.
Charles
