The comments from Martin Hoskins from One2One have certainly
helped me to understand their data protection policies and why
they do not seem to operate in accordance with the ODPC guidance!
For example, when you register a pay as you go phone they ask for
Date of birth with no explanation as to why they need it.
If you do not wish to have your data used for marketing by
One2One or other organisations you have to write separately to
the Data Protection Officer at a different address to the one
where you are sending the registration data - just what the
Commissioner likes in making things easy!
If you send a letter addressed to the Data Protection Officer
with your registration, and ask that it be passed on, you get no
reply!
Been there, done that, heard nothing from them.
It all makes you think they are a good, reputable, law abiding
firm.
