I used to work for a large corporation who placed all staff piccies on the
intranet. Except for bad hair days this was deemed to be fine, and the
piccies, unless specially shot, were taken from security pass shots.
When the DPA 1998 came in we altered that such that when new photos taken
for passes the staff members were asked for permission for other uses. This
permission was given as an enduring permission, formally, and on paper.
We took the view that existing staff had given permission, but announced
that they had the right of removal.
I think this may be relevant to your current issue

Just like to run this one past you - a new Director has started and he wants
to familiarise himself with all his staff. Anyway, Personnel take our
photographs for the purpose of our ID Badges.... The new Director wants
print-outs of all photos of his staff. I personally think there is no
problem as it could come under Staff Management/Administration. Also, we
are working in a public job but there is the point of getting your photo
taken for one purpose and then using it for another ...I really can't see it
being a problem but wondered if you had any thoughts on this.
Look forward to any comments you may have.
Thanks
Dor
