We have had a call recently from a deaf student on a physiotherapy course.
He is are doing well with the academic studies, but struggling with the
clinical placements - he has failed one of the placements twice. The student
is taking a year out and also said that his disability co-ordinator is away
for a short while at present.
Next year the student wants to go back more prepared with the issues
concerning the placements and the support available. Skill offered some
information and advice, but the student and ourselves thought it would be
useful if a student on a similar course, for example occupational therapy,
or someone who has direct experience of supporting a student on a similar
course could provide further information to him.
If anyone has any advice could they e-mail us at the information service
([log in to unmask]) and we can pass the e-mails on to him and his tutors.
