Please don't, if I have caught you in time.
BDA helpline e-mail enquiries are being forwarded to me for three weeks
while the Helpline Manager is on holiday, and I did not know that the
Channel 4 programmes would be broadcast during this period when I rashly
agreed.
So I would just get this same message again.
I will tell you about the enquiries when I have caught up with them!
(The non-academic staff member was one! Thank you.)

Could Tony Blair manage 'universal' testing? Wow!
There is compulsory baseline assessment at 5 years in England.
(Wales, NI, Scotland? Pass.)
Many LEAs did their own testing for several years before it became
compulsory.
There are many test profiles to choose from and some LEAs devised their
own.
The purpose is to establish the child's starting point on school entry,
to enable strengths and weaknesses to be recognised and catered for
and for progress testing at later stages.
It is not a pass/fail test
and it is worrying to hear of parents having children coached for it!
Re the offenders in the programme,
nothing was said about their families, supportive or otherwise,
and some are distinctly 'otherwise', with drugs and drink.
And teachers cannot do much for children who will not co-operate
however hard the teachers try, and they do try hard!
