Where we have recommended this it is because use of the internet is an
integral part of the course (verified with Course Leader). Then, the arguments
that apply are normally along the lines of needing extra time. Computer
access at College may be restricted and the difficulties that may be
experienced reading information on the screen and performing organised
searches may put them at a disadvantage.
I think your £25/qtr call allowance is very reasonable. We generally
recommend approx. 2hrs a week (off-peak) for around 30 weeks. However, in
the case of a VI Computer Science student who was using Telnet to access
University mainframes the recommendation was somewhat higher!
