I am planning to attend the conference too. Unlikely Mike LLoyd, I
didn't attend the December conference as I felt that the topics had
already been covered sufficiently by other events I had attended.
I am particularly interested in the security and legal aspects in the
programme, especially since it is aimed at the HE/FE sector.
There are so many courses/conferences/seminars on Data
Protection being offered, that I feel I have to be selective in which I
attend.
On the subject of conferences, the 2nd Annual Conference for Data
Protection is being held in Birmingham on May 12th. I attended
the first conference last year and found it useful, so will be
attending this one too. I don't have a detailed programme yet, but
speakers are: Elizabeth France, Paul Boateng (Home Office),
David Brooks (c:cure/BSI/DTI) and Andy Nurse (Action 2000) and
topics to be covered include more on the 1998 DP Act, The Crime
and Disorder Act 1998, Compliance with BS7799, and Year 2000
data protection compliance issues.
