Can anyone help or advise?
I've had an enquiry from the mother of primary school child from Suffolk
who is 6.5 years old, dyspraxic and has learning difficulties. The
child has a SEN Statement which is due to be reviewed and attends a
mainstream primary school. The child uses the families recently
acquired home computer with no additional enabling technology and really
enjoys doing so. She has little access to a computer at school and Mum
wants the LEA to explore this communication medium asap. Mum would like
to discuss/meet with someone locally who can give unbiased advice on an
appropriate system, support her in her quest to improve access to the
curriculum for her daughter or help move things forward quickly with the
LEA.
Mum has already talked through the situation with ACE, I have extended
an open invitation to visit Hereward but does anyone know of others on
the east coast whom she could talk to locally eg Special Needs Advisors.
Please respond to me directly and I will forward your thoughts,
opinions, advice etc to Mum.
Many thanks.
John
