Hi Sarah
I know the problem - and usually these pointing devices are pretty
unreliable anyway. Toshiba and IBM Thinkpad laptops have the
keyboard-based pointing device, and you can connect a clip-on trackball
to the side, although you have to have a cable connecting around to the
back.
