It is good news about part-time students. Now all we need
is a definition of part time students for the Access Fund.
I would also draw colleagues attention to the fact that
students over the age of 50 are not entitled to student
loans. As it is loans, rather than grants, which will be
funding students in the future (and over 50s are more
likley to have a disabilty) it is an area of concern. It
is difficult to advise over 50s about funding who may wish
to start next year, or withdraw under the 20 week rule and
start again next academic year.
I understand that the Government may include over 50s in
there "life long learning" policy/initiative/thingy, but
this is perhaps no more than fancy words at the momment
and has yet to hit the streets, so to speak.
Thanks for listening.
