The following advertisement will appear in Tuesday's Guardian. Victoria
Pettipher, who some of you will know, is moving on to a new job in
Oxford. The Disabilities Officer post is primarily cancerned with doing
casework with disabled students - needs assessments, appllications for
DSAs, liaising with faculties and service departments, organising
academic support workers, recommending special examination arrangements.
The Disabilities Officer is a member of Disabilities Services (which is a
part of an integrated Student Services). There are three and a half
staff: I manage the service and am currently seconded to the University's
HEFCE project; David runs the Independent Learning Unit (an IT resource
base for disabled students); Lesley is a half time Disabilities Careers
Officer. Dyslexic students are supported elsewhere by the Dyslexia
Support Service. We work in a busy and friendly open plan office and our
students are great!
If anyone is interested in this post and would like to contact me for
an informal discussion, please telephone me at the number below (before
18th December). PLease note, the closing date is 6th January.
Happy Christmas hols to everyone!
