In response to the disforum message posted by Deb Viney, I can confirm that
we use both Hal and Jaws for Windows for our students at the College and
we've just installed Supernova, Dolphin's new speech/large print for NT.
I also carry out Employment Service assessments for visually impaired people
in the workplace and recommend various speech synthesis programs,
depending entirely on what the person needs to be able to do, and using what
applications software. It really is impossible to make a "blanket"
recommendation. There are some things one package will do which another
simply cannot, which may not be important to one user, but crucial to another.
Let me know if I can be of help more specifically.
