A painter friend had to stop work for six months because of RSI. I expect
that the medics suggest that your student should similarly stop until it is
better, which I don't suppose she wants to hear. Are there any alternative
courses/modules which would involve less wrist movement (assuming her RSI
is mainly in the wrist)?
It is possible that attention to her posture whilst painting might improve
things -- possibly painting on a flat(ter) surface, rather than an easel
would involve less wrist bending. Using a padded support stick might enable
her to paint with less tension in arms and wrists.
