Given that study skills tuition has become an accepted part of
dyslexia support which LEAs have come to recognise it really
should not matter whether it is done individually or in small groups.
The important thing is that it has been agreed with the student first.
What goes wrong is that sometimes students are promised one-to-
one help then turn up and find they are in a group of six.
As regards verification, LEAs should apply the same criteria.
Namely, they should expect to receive a form along the lines of
"We the undersigned agree that support was provided at the dates
and times stated" followed by a number of rows and columns for
the details of the sessions and signatures of both the student and
the tutor. Obviously there would be one for each student. Perhaps
there should also be a column headed s/g for single or group.
