I would have thought that if you can show that the
placement had to take place out of her area BECAUSE of her
disability then she should be able to claim at least some
of the extra expense from the general disabled students'
allowance. The mandatory awards regs say that this
allowance "provides for students' supplementary allowances
to be increased in respect of disability-related
expenditure, other than travel costs, incurred in attending
a course".
The other possibility might be the two-homes allowance to
pay for the B & B, though I think this is pretty unlikely.
The regs do say tho that the allowance may be granted even
if the student doesn't get dependants' allowances.
If neither of these work, there is always the Access Fund I
suppose, tho ours gets more inadequate every year.
