What kind of 'practical help' are we talking about (the mind boggles!).
Disabled children's sexuality continues to be constructed as either
surprising, freakish, unsavoury and generally problematic. 'How could
they?' We only have to look at the continuing revelations of enforced
sterilisation amongst people with learning difficulties to realise the
intense discomfort with which society views the prospect.
Read Humphries & Gordon's (1992) collection of interviews with people
who grew up in the first half of this century, 'Out of Sight'. Read
Tom's book on 'The Sexual Politics of Disability'. Read Westcott &
Cross' (1996) book 'This Far and No Further'.
Best Wishes
