I realise that the original question was re: portable loop systems but I
wonder if alternatives may be of any use?. Anne-Denise mentions Elite Sound
(of Leeds) and we recently purchased a portable infra-red transmitter from
them. The transmitter is held on a tripod and also contains a powerful
mike which picks up anything said in a large lecture theatre. We've tried
it out and one member of staff (who has a hearing impairment) was very
pleased with the results when giving a lecture though he did prefer the
Sennheiser radio microphones for working in small groups. The nice thing
about this system is that it's quite portable and easy to set up. We also
have headsets for people who may not wear hearing aids as well as personal
loops for those who wish to use the 'T' switch. Just a thought.
