The Deaf students at the University of Central Lancashire have
successfully set up a Deaf Students Society - which not only provides
the students with a social forum, but also with funds (albeit
limited) in order for them to pay for interpreters at AGMs etc..
They also have access to textphone and fax facilities within the S.U.

One of our hearing impaired students would like to set up a Students
Union society. As far as I can gather she would like to set up a
society to include deaf/hearing impaired students and hearing students
which is partly social but which also aims to improve the
understanding of deaf issues within the student body. She would like
to make contact with students in other Universities who have set up a
group like this? Does anyone else have a similar sort of Students
Union group at their University that she could get in touch with?
