I have been given leave to advertise a service that has been kindly offered
by U-Net to students at our University.
U-NET are happy to offer one free subscription to a nominated student with
a disability for every 50 U-Net university subscribers.
This has meant that we have been able to set up free modem access for
several students, although I appreciate it does not pay for the phone bill.
I am very aware that there are problems with asking for access to the
internet but for many students with disabilities it can be so helpful. In
fact I feel in the future it may
become the 'norm' and essential for all students. Horrors ..web TV for
timetabling of lectures and research!'
(A special deal for staff and students in UK Higher Education is provided
by U-NET. This is called the JANET National Dial Up Service, and details
can be found on the University of Sussex Web pages under the Computing
Service section.

An added benefit of this service is that it provides dial-up access at
local call rates from anywhere in the UK, unlike the existing USCS dial-in
service.)
Best Wishes
