I would recommend that the bloke buy a decentish inkjet printer (the Epson
Stylus 600 will do photo realistic quality, it's about 250 quid). for the
occasional colour page or colour picture additions to a page and then also
buy a good laser printer. The laser will be much cheaper to run when doing
draft copies and for normal text based documents. People who buy colour
printers generally realise that they don't use the colour facility as much
as they thought they would.
There are a few issues around colour printers, as he has pointed out, they
are expensive to run and they also take ages to print out a page if you
print at a good resolution (600x600 dpi (dots per inch)).
A laser printer on the other hand will be much faster at 600x600 especially
if it is on an ethernet network.
Cheers,
Bob.
