Re Jan Einsch's query on Dyslexia and OPAC systems:
Interestingly enough, Jan, I was discussing this very thing with a dyslexic
Post-Grad student about an hour ago.
He found that he could cope with the system and the screen layouts etc quite
well once he had got used to it, but his biggest frustration was
inconsistency in the cataloguer's entry of information. You can't really
solve problems of complex titles if Authors use them, but it's very
frustrating to request from the Author Catalogue: "Smith, John" and to get
a partial response and then find on further investigation that some of this
author's books ONLY come up if you ask for "Smith, J" It's just
inconsistency of cataloguing and irritates us all, but is doubly frustrating
for many dyslexic students and just adds to the complexity of their task.
Yours, Ron
