Looking through the smartcode website I noticed the following info about a 
package for reading back sections of spreadsheets which may be useful. (Demo 
version available for download)

 SmartChecker V1.0
is a small utility that will allow your Windows Spreadsheet to audibly "Read 
Back" ranges of cells from a
Spreadsheet . (No sound card is required). It comes supplied with an Excel 
Add-On that can incorporate it
permanently in the Tools menu. It has "Pause & Resume" option, and can be 
made to work with pretty much any
spreadsheet or any Windows application that has columns of figures. Ideal if 
you have columns of entries to
check for accuracy.
