Too true. So we all have to sell it at that price now. So if you would all
order three times as many as you were ordering before, we may be able to
continue to make a living! Apart from the other products that Paul
mentioned, there is also supposed to be a Simply Speaking Gold on its way,
at about the original price. But I do not yet know what it will offer.
Inicidentally, I don't think that there has been much discussion of Dragon
Solo on this forum yet. It is pretty attractive. UKP79.99 incl VAT. Allows
you to dictate straight into one of various applications including Word
(the only one of the low cost programs to do so) and do practically all
editing and Windows control by Voice. (not yet Word 97). Nearly as good
recognition as VoiceType, although it takes a few more sentences to get
usable results. More complex than VT because of the Voice operated command
and control, so a bigger learning curve to climb up. Like Kurzweil VoicePad
(but unlike VT) it gives predictive help in entering corrections. You can
also use it similarly to VT with textHELP! to proofread for you. Whether
they will enter a price war with IBM or whether the current price
differential is a reasonable difference to allow for the extra features of
direct dictation into Word and Vocie Control, I do not know.
