Hello all
I, too, read this article in last weeks Guardian, with a little dismay! I
wonder if we'll end up in the same situation as the 286 to 386 leap left us
in a few years ago, with a queue of students wanting (needing?) upgrades -
headaches tryin to justify them or explain to the student why DSA came about
and what it is supposed to be used for.
I think it will be up to whether the individual institution has an IT
strategy which involves upping the spec of systems in use generally as to
whether we can justify a higher spec and naturally higher price system.
However, if our own experience is anything to go by it will probably be
difficult to find out if there is any such upgrade plan until the very last
minute.
: For discussion:
:
: A lot of us are involved in making decisions about computer hardware.
: The result of these decisions will be with a DSA student for 3 years.
: In the light of the following information, should we up the current
: specification?
