I T. SUPPORT OFFICER Manchester
As a result of a successful bid for funding to the Higher Education
Funding Council, an innovative Disability Resources Centre is to be
established by the four universities in the Greater Manchester area
(UMIST, The Manchester Metropolitan University and the universities of
Manchester and Salford). The Centre will act as a focus for a range
of disability services for students and staff within the universities.
An Information Technology Support Officer is sought to be responsible
for technical support to the Centre and to clients of the Centre.
Duties will include assisting the Manager to establish the Centre and
assist in its day to day running. The successful candidate will play a
key role in supporting the assessments of needs and training
activities of the Centre, the setting up of a technical "helpdesk" and
maintenance of a equipment resource bank. Candidates should have
strong I.T. background and familiarity with a wide range of enabling
technology, experience of working with people with disabilities and
excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The appointment is
available for two years in the first instance.
Commencing salary will be with the range of stlg12,654 - stlg15,222 per
annum.
