>The British Dyslexia Association ought to be able to help.
I did prepare a response for Liz Petley, but somehow
lost her details. It included a Solhull phone number which I thought
should not be sent to the whole forum without the owner's permission,
so I cancelled it. I will now send it to Liz.
Yes, the BDA ought to be able to help. They are on e-mail, but it
the Helpline e-mail is manned (womanned) by part-time staff with
lots of other jobs, on a shared computer, so please do not all
write at once!

The 0990 number given in the e-mail to which I am responding
was for the Autumn 1996 campaign and may or may not still
be operational.
BDA staff are aware of the forums. They subscribe to SENCO-forum.
I tell them about, and sometimes forward, items of particular interest
from the other forums. I hope that one day, BDA will have a staff
member who can take an active part in the forums.
In the meantime, BDA is happy with my contributions
(I work voluntarily, from home.)
Re courses for teachers,
short courses will just be awareness, and will be helpful but will not
*enable a teacher to teach dyslexic learners* as a qualification course
would. There are details of qualification courses on the BDA Web
http://www.bda-dyslexia.org.uk/Document/Freeinfo/ft03a.html
http://www.bda-dyslexia.org.uk/Document/Freeinfo/ft03b.html
http://www.bda-dyslexia.org.uk/Document/Freeinfo/ft04.html
or I could send e-mail versions to individuals.
Re Short courses for teachers.
Local Dyslexia Associations sometimes runs awareness courses.
Dyslexia establishments also do short courses.
BDA staff usually only know of ones in their Events List
http://www.bda-dyslexia.org.uk/Events/events.html
(I could send individuals the April/May edition, which is not on the
Web yet.)
