Given the enormous interest this sparked off, I have spoken to Karen
Consadine from City Lit Centre for the Deaf and she assures me the
whole thing will be transcribed and made available. We can put a
summary on dis-forum and send the whole thing as an attachment, or if
preferred we can make it available as a document on a Web site (here
or at UCL).
However, I suspect that the interest reflects the difficulty many
people face in supporting deaf students' complex communication needs.
I must say we are spoiled by having access to City Lit's help and
would not know where to start without it. City Lit Centre for the
Deaf support around 40 undergraduates (of all levels of hearing)
attending degree courses at universities throughout Inner London.
Those who can get there should try to do so. My thanks to Patrick
Mulcahey and UCL for giving us the opportunity.
