I have never been asked to ensure that three quotes be
provided for equipment : the maximum has been two, and that was
unusual. Most LEAs I've had to deal with are happy with one quote
if it's for special equipment.
I have never encountered an LEA refusing to accept an
assessment from an Access Centre. That said, Birmingham
once tried to palm off one of our dyslexic students with an off-the-
-shelf PC which was selected solely on the basis that that was
what the Birmingham Treasurer's Department used and what was
good enough for them should be O.K. for a student. Subsequently,
following intervention from a councillor and then the local M.P. the
student was referred to an access centre and was provided with
appropriate kit.
Dig your heels in !!
