I recently went to demonstrate our hand held camera, made by Horizon,
to a VI student and was confronted by interference from Channel 5.
The box of tricks has special fixings, so I telephoned Horizon to ask
if there was a UHF modulator inside which could be retuned. I was
told no, this is not possible. I then asked if the new units were on
a different frequency and if they could be retuned - again the
answers were both no. It was suggested that one used the video
output. This is okay if the TV has a SCART socket, but not all do.
The other suggestion was to get one of the notch filters that Channel
5 provide to those people whose TV sets they won't touch (they won't
retune old Sony TV's with the buttons on the front of the set, rather
than the remote).
I then contacted Concept Systems to ask about their hand held
camera. They said that theirs can be retuned via a standard
modulator. Also, the maunfacturer of their devices has recouped their
development costs, so the price has fallen by stlg50 to stlg250, making it
slightly cheaper than the Horizon.
Anybody have any experience of the Concept Systems device?
