The reaction at Nottingham has been reasonably positive on the part
of those who might operate them. The reaction of the wheelchair
users has not been wholly negative although it must be pretty
terrifying for them. We have not had to use them for real, for which
we are all grateful. Is the insurance risk of one person having an
injured back worse than the risk of having someone killed by fumes?
We have said that they would not be suitable for getting people
down from the upper floors of our one tower block so we will not
accept wheelchair users for computer science until they move to
new premises in a couple of years.
