I'm glad you said the HESA return is a semi-accurate indication!! Our HESA
figures bear no resemblance at all to our numbers of disabled students! I
think one of the problems is a confusion in students' minds about the term
'registered disabled'. - or rather not a confusion - many are not 'registered'
but are disabled! Do other people have this problem? e.g. only 36 students show
as having Dyslexia on our HESA figures - our support lecturer is supporting 105
and that doesn't include students who have separate arrangements for tutoring
or who don't ask or need that provision.
